Dr Syn 2010

“Syn at The Grand, 2010”

On April 16th 2010, for two weeks, The Grand at Folkestone held Folkestone's first and the World’s Largest celebration of Dr. Syn, entitled Syn at The Grand”.

"Syn at The Grand” showcased Kent Artist Terry Anthony’s work in depicting this character over the last fifteen years, whilst supporting the charity- East Kent Child Witness Service.

The Grand’s Manager and the "Syn at the Grand" Exhibitions Curator Robert Richardson (rr@grand-uk.com) has said that his love of the character and Mr. Anthony’s artwork compelled him to contact Mr. Anthony in early 2010 & set up this event and further to tie it in to supporting a local Kentish charity.

Mr. Richardson said- "From an early age, I was aware of the Syn character, and considered myself a fan, however until contacting Terry, and visiting Dymchurch, late last year, was grossly unaware of the love for Russell Thorndike’s creation that is so obvious to anyone walking the streets of Dymchurch or talking to its residents”

'Robert Richardson and The Grand hope to make this an annual event, helping to keep alive the legend of Dr. Syn for the Kentish community for many more years to come.'

"Syn at The Grand" is Sponsored by “Kent Life” Magazine. http://kent.greatbritishlife.co.uk/

“Syn at The Grand 2010” was opened by London Based Actor & Producer Marc Sinden
